INTERLAKEN

Interlaken is a traditional resort town in the mountainous Bernese-Oberland region of central Switzerland. Built on a narrow stretch of the valley, between the emerald-colored waters of LakeThun and Lake Brienz. It has old timber houses and parkland on either side of the Aare River. Its surrounding mountains, with dense forests, alpine meadows, and glaciers, has numerous hiking and skiing trails.

The beautiful landscape provides tourists a variety of places to visit. Both within the town itself as well as plenty of day trips from Interlaken. With a population of around 14,000 inhabitants, Interlaken is one of the larger towns in the Bernese Oberland. It offers plenty of services for both residents and visitors.

A great way to get your bearings while learning more about this amazing city is to take a ride on either the Bodeli-Bahn tourist train or Bodeli-Tram, a horse-drawn tram carriage. After choosing your mode of transport, enjoy a journey on a nostalgic ride through the city and past some of the best places to visit at a later stage. One of the best places to visit for views of the snow-capped Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch isHöhe Matte. This is a large open park in the heart of Interlaken with fantastic views and a popular gathering place and the landing spot for paragliders and hangs gliders.
